When to take DoxyPEP:

• Take 200mg dose (two 100mg tablets) as soon as possible and no later than 72 hours after oral, anal, or vaginal/front-hole sex where a condom has not been used for the entire time
• Do not take more than 200mg (two tablets) within a 24 hour period. If you have sex again within 24 hours of taking doxyPEP, take another dose 24 hours after your last one
• You can take doxyPEP as often as every day when you are having sex without a condom, but do not take more than 200mg (two tablets) every 24 hours

How to take DoxyPEP:

• Take doxyPEP with a large glass of water. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it to make sure that it does not get stuck when you swallow it. If you have an upset stomach after taking doxyPEP you might find taking it with some food can help. Doxycycline can be taken with milk.
• Avoid antacids, or supplements containing aluminium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron or bismuth 2 hours before or after taking doxycycline as these may reduce its effectiveness. Chronic and heavy alcohol use may also decrease the effectiveness of doxycycline
• Some people are more sensitive to the sun when taking doxycycline, so wear sunscreen with a high SPF and avoid using sunbeds
• You should stop taking doxycycline if you are experiencing any severe side effects – any of which should then be discussed with your sexual healthcare provider.
