About our Training

Training Courses

Sexual Health Sheffield has a history of delivering a wide range of evidence based, high quality and excellently evaluated sexual health training courses. Our Community Engagement team (formerly the Centre for HIV & Sexual Health) were instrumental in developing the Department of Health’s National Recommended Quality Standards in Sexual Health and all our training courses meet the standards set out in this document.

Our training courses are participatory, working with the experience that group members bring and are specifically designed to incorporate elements of personal development to address the issues raised, alongside professional development, skills and practical strategies for the work.

In this section you can view information on our current education and training courses and reserve a place using our on-line booking form.

Clinical Training

In addition to our general education and training programme, Sexual Health Sheffield offers a range of sexual health courses and workshops that are specifically designed for clinicians who work in sexual and reproductive health (in primary care and in sexual health specialist services).

This clinical training will be of particular interest to health professionals requiring letters of competence, professional accreditation and/ or with an interest in contraception and sexual health.

Examples of clinical training include the STIF (Sexually Transmitted Infection Foundation) Course which we provide in conjunction with BASHH (the British Society for Sexual Health and HIV), the Diploma for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health Care (DFSRH), Letter of Competencies training in Intrauterine Techniques (LoC IUT), Nexplanon Techniques and Contraceptive Implant and Intrauterine Contraception Master classes .
