Young People

PASH (Peer Activities in Sexual Health) Project

The PASH young people’s peer education project was established in May 2004 and the project is one of the initiatives that contribute to Sheffield’s Teenage Pregnancy Strategy.

The project trains and supports young volunteers (16-19 years) to deliver information and education sessions to young people in schools, colleges and informal youth settings. Since the project began, over 70 young people have been trained as PASH peer educators.

‘It’s a Girl Thing’ Group Work Programme. The aims of this six session programme are:

  • To enable young women to become more informed about sexual health issues relevant to their lives
  • To explore the links between sexual health and assertiveness, providing opportunities for young women to learn and practise basic assertiveness skills

The programme has been delivered in schools, supported housing and looked after young people’s settings and is run in conjunction with key staff from each setting.
